Legendary Beauty Secrets

Sophia Loren

The Golden Age of Hollywood was filled with glamour, and that means they had a few tricks up their sleeve’s even back then to be camera and red carpet ready. I wanted to know what Marilyn, Audrey and Grace did to stay in tip-top shape, and so I did my research and discovered some fantastic beauty solutions used by some of “Classic Hollywood’s” most beloved starlets.

Working in Hollywood means long shooting days and exhausting schedules, and when you’re tired a common side effect can be dark circles under the eyes…well did you know that putting some crushed up mint leaves under the eyes for fifteen minutes can help alleviate puffiness and dark circles? Two of Hollywood’s most elite actresses, Sophia Loren and Rita Hayworth, were both huge enthusiasts of this technique.

What is the secret to mint leaves?

Mint leaves contain menthol, and menthol can help promote blood circulation. Poor microcirculation can be the cause of dark circles. The menthol also acts as a natural astringent that constricts the blood vessels to remove the blue tint.

The greatest female star of classic Hollywood was a big devotee of this next one…

Katharine Hepburn was famous for her amazing complexion, and I discovered one of her facial routines. She would squeeze fresh lemon juice into some sugar, and use it as an exfoliant on her face. Lemon contains two fantastic components, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) and citric acid. The citric acid works as a natural bleaching agent on dark spots, and can help even your skin tone. The ascorbic acid reduces collagen breakdown, which helps prevent aging. This technique helped Katharine’s skin remain flawless throughout her long film career.

This next one also uses sugar

And, Beauty isn’t just about the face, it’s about taking care of your entire body, and that includes your hands. What you do is slice a red grape in half and dip it in some sugar. Then take the grape and rub it on and around your cuticles. Not only does this help get rid of hangnails, it also keeps those cuticles soft between manicures…and wait, did you know that red grapes also contain quercetin? Quercetin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and helps prevent new wrinkles from forming. It is often said that the hands can giveaway your age, so you can use the red grapes to also exfoliate the hand.

I’ll give you a hint who uses that trick…she is known for her blonde hair and blue eyes…and she goes by the name of Kym Douglas! That’s right, it’s an old Hollywood trick used by a new Hollywood star! A few days ago I made an appearance on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and I’m already dusting off a place for my future Emmy Award.
